Chef

Chef Michaël Vrijmoed belongs to a generation of chefs who are reshaping Belgium’s gastronomic landscape by reinterpreting tradition. His cuisine is rooted in classical foundations, yet firmly focused on the future.

Vrijmoed honed his craft under, among others, three-Michelin-starred chef Peter Goossens at Hof van Cleve, where he developed the foundations of what would become his signature style: profound flavours, technical precision and an exceptional sense of harmony. In 2013, he opened Restaurant Vrijmoed in the heart of Ghent. Eight months later, he was awarded his first Michelin star, followed by a second in 2018.

His style plays with textures, contrasts and aromatic intensity, often placing vegetables centre stage. Vrijmoed demonstrates that refinement and complexity do not necessarily stem from luxurious ingredients, but from craftsmanship, an awareness of the seasons and creative thinking.

Theme

Few forms of motorsport capture the imagination quite like rallying. No circuit, no safety barriers, no margin for error. Just tarmac, gravel or dust, and a driver who must place complete trust in their car. Over the decades, rallying has created its own pantheon of legends: from Mikkola to Vatanen, from Röhrl to Kankkunen. Drivers who not only won races, but inspired an entire generation of enthusiasts.

Within that history, Group B occupies a unique place. Between 1982 and 1986, Audi, Lancia, Peugeot and Ford brought some of the most extreme rally cars ever built to the World Rally Championship. Thanks to new homologation regulations, engineers were given unprecedented freedom. Four-wheel drive, turbocharged technology and lightweight materials delivered performance that pushed the boundaries of rallying.

The result was as breathtaking as it was reckless. The cars were faster than ever and drew huge crowds to the stages. Yet the combination of extreme speed and limited safety measures ultimately proved unsustainable. In 1986, the FIA brought Group B to an end. What remained were four seasons of rallying history that continue to capture the imagination to this day. That is why, in this edition, we pay tribute to Group B with a unique collection of the most iconic rally cars from this legendary era. A fitting homage to a period that changed motorsport forever.
