In 1951 presenteerde Wifredo Ricart op de autosalon van Parijs
een prachtige, luxueuze Gran Turismo, de Pegaso Z-102. De
vrachtwagenfabrikant droomde van een eigen sportwagen om niet
alleen te laten zien waartoe zijn fabriek in staat was, het moest ook
het visitekaartje van Spaanse makerlei worden. Het zelfdragende
platformchassis was voorzien van een aluminium 2,5-liter V8-motor met 2.472 cc en 165 pk. Waren de eerste exemplaren wat klassiek vormgegeven, en ontwierp Saoutchik een uitbundige coupé en cabriolet, ook van Touring verschenen er prachtige exemplaren waaronder de Touring Superleggera met een superlicht buizenframe ontworpen door Bianchi Anderloni. Afgezien van de lichte constructie met buizen met een kleine diameter, gaf het Superleggeraconstructiesysteem een grote flexibiliteit, waardoor Touring snel innovatieve carrosserievormen kon construeren, waaronder die van Pegaso

In 1951, at the Paris Motor Show, Wifredo Ricart presented
a beautiful, luxurious Gran Turismo, the Pegaso Z-102. The
truck manufacturer dreamed of having its own sports car to not only show what its factory was capable of, it was also to be
become the calling card of Spanish makerlei. The self-supporting
platform chassis was equipped with an aluminum 2.5-liter V8 engine with 2,472 cc and 165 hp. While the first examples were somewhat classically styled, Saoutchik designed an exuberant coupe and Touring also produced beautiful examples of this type.

Apart from the light construction with small-diameter tubes, the Superleggera construction system gave great flexibility, allowing Touring to quickly be able to construct innovative body styles, including those of Pegaso.
