De Lancia Aprilia loste in 1937 de Augusta af. Het zou de laatste auto onder auspiciën van Vincenzo Lancia worden, hij overleed nog datzelfde jaar. Naast de fabrieksberlina bood de fabriek in Berlijn de Aprilla ook aan als platform voor carrosseriebouwers. Pinin Farina’s betrokkenheid bij de Aprilia begon vanaf de introductie van het model met op maat gemaakte Aprilia’s, zowel voor gebruik op de weg als voor wedstrijden. Eén van die
modellen was een cabriolet: de Lancia Aprilia Farina Convertible Salon. Uitgerust met twee plus twee stoelen, een dashboard in dezelfde kleur als de bekleding met een instrumentarium van bakeliet en chroom, was het echter vooral het exterieur dat onderscheidend was met opmerkelijke, strakke lijnen en details.

The Lancia Aprilia replaced the Augusta in 1937, and would be the last car produced under the auspices of Vincenzo Lancia, who died that same year. In addition to the factory-produced Berlina model, the Berlin plant also offered the Aprilia as a platform for coachbuilders. Pininfarina’s involvement with the Aprilia started at the time the model was introduced with custom-made Aprilias, destined for road use and in competitions. One of these models was a convertible: the Lancia Aprilia Farina Convertible Saloon. Equipped with two plus two (jump) seats, a dashboard in the same colour as the upholstery with Bakelite and chrome instruments, it was the exterior that was particularly distinctive with strikingly clean lines and details.
