Voor velen is het de ultieme droom op autogebied: de Lamborghini
Countach. Als je ‘m op een foto, of beter nog, in het echt ziet, is
het niet voor te stellen dat het ontwerp al meer dan dertig jaar oud
is, zo vooruitstrevend en futuristisch oogt de Countach. Het is dus
geen wonder dat deze Lamborghini bij presentatie in 1971 zoveel
opschudding veroorzaakte. De Countach kreeg net als de Miura
een middenmotor, maar dan in lengterichting geplaatst met een
cilinderinhoud van 4.971 cc en maar liefst 440 pk. Marcello Gandini
was verantwoordelijk voor de extreme lijnen. Lamborghini had
hiermee een weg ingeslagen die het tot op de dag van vandaag volgt.

The Lamborghini Countach is the ultimate dream car for many. When you see one in a photo, or better yet, in real life, it’s hard to believe that the design is over 30 years old; this is how progressive and futuristic the Countach’s appearance is. It’s no wonder then that this Lamborghini created such a stir when it was first presented in 1971. Like the Miura, the Countach was fitted with a mid-engine, yet this was positioned lengthwise, with a displacement of 4,971 cc and an incredible 440 hp. Marcello Gandini was responsible for the car’s extreme lines.

With the launch of this car, Lamborghini had set out on a path that it continues to follow to this day.
