De Ford Escort zag in 1968 het levenslicht en werd verkocht als dé gezinsauto van Europa. Ford maakte met de coupévariant de stap naar de rallysport. Met 32 grote rally-overwinningen is de RS1600 een van de meest succesvolste rally-auto’s allertijden.

De rallyvoorbereiding van deze RS1600, chassis BBATNM 99901, werd in april 1973 voltooid door het Ford works team. Datzelfde jaar nam de auto deel aan de Safari Rally met Brit Roger Clark aan het stuur. Het beste resultaat behaalde de auto in de thuisrally. Op de Britse gravel en modderpaden verzekerde Clark zich van een tweede plek. Inmiddels is de auto volledig gereviseerd en in een uitzonderlijke staat.

The Ford Escort was launched in 1968 as Europe’s first family car. Ford made its entry into rallying with the coupé variant. With 32 rally victories to its name, the RS1600 is one of the most successful rally cars of all time.
The rally preparation of this RS1600, chassis BBATNM 99901, was completed by the Ford team in April 1973. That same year, the car participated in the Safari Rally with Briton Roger Clark at the wheel. The car achieved its best result in its original rally. On the gravel and mud tracks of Britain, Clark finished second. The car has since been fully maintained and is in exceptional condition.

La Ford Escort a vu le jour en 1968 et a été vendue comme la première voiture familiale d’Europe. Ford s’est lancé dans le rallye avec la variante coupé. Avec 32 victoires en rallye, la RS1600 est l’une des voitures de rallye les plus performantes de tous les temps.
La préparation au rallye de cette RS1600, châssis BBATNM 99901, a été achevée par l’équipe de Ford en avril 1973. La même année, la voiture a participé au Safari Rally avec le Britannique Roger Clark au volant. Le meilleur résultat de la voiture a été obtenu dans son rallye d’origine. Sur les pistes britanniques de gravier et de boue, Clark a obtenu la deuxième place. La voiture a depuis été entièrement révisée et se trouve dans un état exceptionnel.
