Deze Ferrari “Sharknose” dankt zijn  naam aan de twee luchtinlaten in de neus. Ferrari heeft deze wagen ontwikkeld in 1960 volgens de nieuwe F1 voorschriften waardoor de cilinderinhoud van 2.5 l naar 1.5l gebracht werd.

In deze configuratie heeft de wagen seizoen ‘61 en ‘62 gereden. In 1961 heeft Phil Hill met deze wagen het kampioenschap gewonnen. In Zandvoort haalde hij in 1961 de tweede plaats na Wolfgang von Trips met dezelfde Ferrari. In 1962 haalt Phil in Zandvoort de 3 de plaats, voor zijn Italiaans collega Giancarlo Baghetti die op de 4 de plaats eindigt.

In 1963 is de typische neus van dit model verdwenen en heeft Ferrari alle F1’s sharknoses op het einde van het seinzoen in 1963 vernietigd. Er zijn een paar replica’s gebouwd met de goedkeuring en 100% fabriek specificaties. Dit is er 1 van, dezelfde staat in de “Galleria Ferrari” in Maranello”

Andere gekende rijders op dit model zijn John Surtees, Willy Maraisse, Lorenzo Bandini en Ricardo Rodriguez.

This Ferrari “Sharknose” gets its name from the two air intakes in the nose. Ferrari developed this car in 1960 according to the new F1 regulations, bringing the displacement from 2.5l to 1.5l.

In this configuration, the car raced season ’61 and ’62. In 1961, Phil Hill won the championship with this car. At Zandvoort in 1961, he took second place after Wolfgang von Trips with the same Ferrari. In 1962 at Zandvoort, Phil achieved 3rd place, ahead of his Italian colleague Giancarlo Baghetti who finished in 4th place.

In 1963, the typical nose of this model disappeared and Ferrari destroyed all F1’s sharknoses at the end of the 1963 signal season. A few replicas were built with the approval and 100% factory specifications. This is 1 of them, the same one is in the “Galleria Ferrari” in Maranello”

Cette Ferrari “Sharknose” doit son nom aux deux prises d’air situées dans le nez. Ferrari a développé cette voiture en 1960 selon les nouvelles règles de la F1, ramenant la cylindrée de 2,5l à 1,5l.
