Maastricht, 8 July 2022 – The 28th edition of the InterClassics Classic Car Show Maastricht, slated to be held at MECC Maastricht from 8 to 11 September 2022, has been cancelled. In consultation with sponsors, partners and exhibitors, the organisation has decided to cancel the fair in September. Traditionally the first event of the season, the exhibition was initially scheduled for January. However, due to COVID-19, the exhibition was postponed, and was to be held in September 2022 in a modified form. This appeared to have an impact on the quality of the event to be held in September. The summer months are a busy time for exhibitors and visitors alike. The ‘Dutch Grand Prix Classics’ theme could also be adversely effected if the event were held in September. The organisers are happy to confirm that significantly more historic Formula 1 cars can be exhibited in January 2023 than in September since the majority of these race cars will be in action on the tracks during the summer. This accumulation of circumstances make it impossible to guarantee the quality of the exhibition. The next edition will be held from 12 through 15 January 2023 at MECC Maastricht, kicking off the classic-car event year, true to tradition.

Erik Panis, InterClassics exhibition manager: ‘We would have liked nothing more than for the Classic Car Show Maastricht to go ahead as planned in September. However, InterClassics has represented high-quality, distinctive events since 1994. We studied the various scenarios for the September edition, and arrived at the conclusion that we cannot offer the quality that our sponsors, partners, exhibitors and visitors have come to expect from us. This was the rationale behind the decision to cancel the September fair. We look forward to putting on a great, high-quality event in January 2023 as people have become accustomed to seeing from us.’ The 28th edition of the InterClassics Classic Car Show Maastricht will be held at MECC Maastricht from Thursday, 12 through Sunday, 15 January 2023. The classic-car exhibition traditionally attracts many buyers and enthusiasts. With 35,000 m2 of exhibition floor space, 300 exhibitors and more than 800 classic cars on display, the InterClassics Classic Car Show Maastricht is one of the largest classic-car events in Europe.
