Later in 1953 nam de DB3 deel aan de Mille Miglia, waar de auto, met Collins achter het stuur, een zestiende plaats behaalde. Only five DB3 factory racers were built, and this specific car was upgraded in 1954 with a lighter bodywork in the style of the later DB3S. The DB3 participated in some legendary races. In 1952, the car took part in the only Grand Prix for sports cars in Monaco, where young driver Peter Collins secured seventh place.
